2006/07

Welcome to Anglia Ruskin Badminton Club Website.   This site is for new and exisiting members to obtain annual information about the badminton club activities.

How to join the club?

If you are an Anglia Ruskin University member, what you have to do are:

  • come to Kelsey Kerringe Sports Centre (KK), badminton court during our badminton sessions,
  • register with me (the club captain) or Ann, and pay a club fee £2 per semester,
  • uumm, that's about it really...   Oh, yes, all levels are welcome!
We have people who can coach you, so beginners are welcome as well as advanced players who want to play in matches.  The club fee covers: borrowing equipments (racket and shuttlecocks) and court. Borrowing a racket for 1 hour costs £1.40 at KK, so our club fee is inexpensive.   KK charges an entrance fee £ 1.00 - am afraid nothing we can do, unless you want to SU to raise our budget!!

When are the badminton sessions on?

  • On every Wed, Thurs and Fridays, 2 - 4 pm during the Semester 1 & 2.   You can come one or all of these days.
More courts (space) are available on Thursdays!

What do we do?

We have registered with Cambridge university badminton league, so advanced and intermidiate players play matches with their college teams.  In this year, we have four teams:

  • Open I team -- currently in division 3B,
  • Open II team -- currently in division 4A,
  • Lady's I team -- currently in division 1 (the top div.),
  • Lady's II team -- currently in division 4.

"Open" teams are formed by mainly men but high level woman players can play.   All Cambridge university league matches are doubles games.   The teams results in Sem 1 (2005) are on "Matches" site.  It is not too late to join one of these teams, you can challange the team members.   Each team has captain, so talk to them.   One team consists with 6 players but usually need 7-8 people since not everybody can play all the matches.

We also organise internal friendly matches.   Always somebody there to play badminton with, so just come alone and meet new people, make friends through badminon, and keep being fit.

We haven't taken pictures in this year, so I cannot update them yet.   Anybody has anything to put on this website, do contact me.
